Back[b]log dito, back[b]log doon. It's been a year already since the last Cinemalaya and I still owe my imaginary readers reviews how Cuchera made me completely terminate my relationship with okras, how Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington made me memorize the bonggang-bonggang curses uttered in the graveyard, how Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me made me scour the bookstores for the non-movie tie-in editions and how Ang Babae sa Septic Tank made me feel nostalgic about my media production days. Heck, I even haven't shared our photos taken inside the "blasphemous" Kulo exhibit! So, I'll just reduce such aim to whip up back-to-back diss/cussion into one outdated fangirl post.
Fangirl mode in 5, 4, 3, 2...
Introducing...my girl crushes from last year's Cinemalaya!
I remember being told by my team manager to tone down my laughter (mine's the loudest in the entire CCP) while watching Ang Babae sa Septic Tank. I was breathless in appreciation of this parody of indie filmmaking one moment and breathless again whenever Cai Cortez makes an apperance in the silver screen. She's the epitome of unabashed self-acceptance!
Although I wished she had more lines in the film, I felt - and I still feel - proud that she gets us extra seksi women represented in the mentioned filmfest. Again! She was on starring role for Maximus and Minimus (give me an original copy of this film pleeeeease!!!) Each close-up shot of this muse, I hope, would remind today's generation that battle with self-esteem issues that they, too, are beautiful. May future filmmakers get reminded that full-figured women deserve to be seen in the movies...and that we don't disappoint. Imagine my delight when I saw Cai Cortez again on Metro Manila Film Fest for My House Husband and in a music video early this year. Going mainstream! Woot!
Cai Cortez as the indie filmmakers' personal assistant
Of course, I indulged myself into a Google search for more photos! Lovely!
Loving that little red dress and pussy red lips!
The goddess discloses her fashion style here.
Another fangirl moment
Guess who got voted as the most beautiful woman in Cannes through an online voting poll by paparazzi in 2008? Clue: she made a cameo appearance on Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and she's on starring role for Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me! Who else? It's my other girl crush, Mercedes Cabral!
Please tell me how to ooze sex appeal like she does. That even morena skin, those full lips and those sultry eyes! Whenever she gives Intoy a seductive smile and piercing gaze, it made me wonder if she even acts at all. It really seems like she's giving us a picture how she is in real life. When my cousin told me how my voice sounded like her character in the film, I was easy to consider it as one of my best compliments ever! Madness indeed!
Mercedes Cabral in that bustier look I've been daydreaming to achieve one day!
Beautiful in black and white
How could you possibly ignore those inviting lips?
Whoever did this body painting must be a lucky dude!
