Lipstick of the Day: Sephora's 03 Strawberry Kissed

After years of residing in the Netherlands, my old colleague Vannie flew back here for a long vacation. She had been my constant companion in kikay adventures like quests for the perfect kaftan to take to the team building, perfect outfit for the annual Cosmo bachelor bash and the likes. Guess what I received as a pasalubong from Holland? Something kikay, of course!

Needless to say, I was eager to world premiere her gift during the recent swap meet and greet that we organized. I like the stunning mixture of pink and red and how it feels silky upon application. If you're clumsy like me, you might see smears beyond the contours of your lips or, worse, in your teeth. (yeah, that's how messy I am).

This cream lip stain delivers its promise to be long-lasting. But I don't like how dry it looks after a while. You have to be on watch to apply another coating to make it wet and conceal the cracks. I use Human Nature's peppermint lip balm to minimize the dryness and I would suggest you use your favorite lip balm, too, before applying this.

How does it look on my extra seksi lips? Let me know what you think.

WORLD PREMIERE: Long-sleeved Mint Blouse + Coral Top + Black Capri Pants + Mint Moccasin Flats / Bloggers Do Mint + Coral Better

When I first stumbled upon the Bloggers Do Mint + Coral Better challenge, I was immediately reminded to bring out this patent leather moccasins out of my closet. Pronto! But what else to wear? I have a polka dotted dress with tiny mint dots and a new pinstriped blazer with mint stripes from my recent ukay ukay shopping, but they're both far from being coral.

My search brought me back to my closet in my parents' home in Cavite. I hesitatantly took home an old thrifted purchase which I never had the courage to wear outside my bedroom. This light-blue-and-orange top generously provided coverage for my arms yet plunged too low and promised an abundant view of the valley between Mt. Suzy and Mt. Geno. I don't even know why I bought it in the first place. Needless to say, this top still doesn't qualify me to make a mint + coral entry. What now?

So I did a half-hearted rummage in the mall after the Sunday service. Coral doesn't seem like a popular shade, but I'm thankful to have found this loose top. However, I realize I can't wear this sleeveless top as is since the current length of my auxillary hair is something I find too hideous, but my new waxer will only dismiss as too short still. So why not put it on top of my long-sleeved top and use it as shield against catcalls, right? I pondered hard as I never ventured into layering. In my estimation, it only looks awesome on skinny people. But the risktaker in me whispered encouraging spiels and I listened. It just might look good on extra seksi women like me, too.

All right, enough back story and let's proceed to the main event! The world premiere begins in 5, 4, 3, 2...
Ta-da!
Check out the contrast!

Detail left unseen. At least for today.

It was also my first time to wear this capri pants with these cuuuute gold buttons. During my bedroom rehearsal, I tucked this coral top to ensure these buttons get their share of limelight, too. However, I feel more comfy when this top is flowing free. More exposure for these golden girls next time! Pinkie promise!

Lipstick of the Day: Human <3 Nature's Island Kiss tinted lip balm + Sweet Nectar hydrating lipstick + Coral Beach mineral lip gloss

Did somebody say coral? Wait, let me take out my coral lip balm and coral lip gloss!

If you just tuned in, I find pussy red lipsticks fitting for daily use. However, for today's attempt to be the rainbow during and after the rain, it may seem like an overkill to go for an equally loud hue for my lips. Or maybe not. Please allow me to deviate and show you what I've saved for the rainy days.

Coral galore on my lips!

My apologies for these pictures hardly give justice to the layers of coral and neutral shades that I smothered my lips today. Perhaps I should have gone for the Coral Kiss hydrating lipstick instead. But, hey, I truly like how this pastel polish looked against my eye-catching (I think) mint + coral ensemble.

Lipstick of the Day: Colour Collection's Smooth Wine

After this good find from my Tupperware lady, I decided to search for a new lippie. As stated in my vision board, I will welcome playful pinks and mad maroons this year. In fact, I was momentarily torn between a certain pink and maroon hue but I went for the latter. My nth pink lipstick can wait.

Lipstick of the Day: Human Heart Nature's Lucky In Love

It feels strange to be the last [dealer] to try Human Heart Nature's hydrating mineral lipstick. Among the variants I've tried during my recent visit in the Cavite branch, I fancied the new lip color Lucky In Love the most. Aside from its refreshing feel on my lips, I think it complements my brown skin very well. You be the judge.

Lipstick of the Day: Avon's Celebrity Red

"Your 30th birthday is an important landmark. You are now ready, after ten years of dicking around with your personal style, to select a signature lipstick. This is the lipstick that will get your through thick and thin. When you are screaming for mercy during childbirth, this is the lipstick that will be smeared across your face. When you kiss the corpses of your dead parents, this is the color that will stain their cheeks. This is the lipstick that will flow into the fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth as the death rattle grips your throat. Choosing this lipstick is a momentous task. In order to complete it, you need to be slightly drunk."

-Simon Doonan, Eccentric Glamour

Now I'm pressured. I've only got one more year to find my signature puta red lipstick! Not to offend my dear friends who find pinks or browns more suiting for my lips, but I really feel bolder and sexier in reds. That's what matters in searching for your signature lipstick, right?

I thought I found mine as soon as I've tried Her Bench's Ruby Glaze and, just recently, Avon's L404 Super Red. Unfortunately, it can't remain my ultimate must-have when the makers discontinued them already. Yes, I'm still mourning.

For my 29th birthday, I put on Avon's Celebrity Red for the first time. I'm delighted with its red-orangey hue and its moisturizing feel that I don't typically experience in matte lipsticks. However, it's far from being smudge-free, much to my boyfriend's chagrin. Inasmuch as I'd like to provide some photo evidence, the model refused to be in front of the camera. He'll be a camwhore, too, in time.

Lipstick of the Day: Milea's Cherry Red

For my vegetarian dinner with rawk star friends in Green Halo and the big date with Jason Mraz the previous night, I opted to use something eco-friendly for my lippie. I'm your typical matte lipstick fan, but I really enjoyed how the glossy Cherry Red from Milea looked on my lips. It was initially disappointing that it went pink instead of its expected hue but I've grown to love how playful and wet it look against my pleasantly toasted skin. Organic products calls for frequent retouches as they don't stay long. However, this one stayed with me until I was crying my eyes out when Jason Mraz performed his final song, "I'm Yours", which sadly reminded me of my brutally murdered officemate.

Close up!

Enough of my wet lips. Now it's your turn to wet yours for these yummy treats from Green Halo in Cubao Expo.

Before I shed buckets of tears again, I shall leave you with my deceased officemate's rendition of "I'm Yours". May he rest in peace.

Lipstick of the Day: Maybelline Summer Sunset

As if the 3-day frolicking in the shores and pools of Camiguin were not enough, I just had to conclude this eventful week with a midnight swim with the cousinhood. It's Kay's 21st beerday par-tey!

Nekkid lips, mahogany brown skin

Guess who forgot to bring sunblock and too lazy to look for one during the trip?

When the failed attempts to do synchronized swimming and other water games turned to another seemingly endless episode of camwhoring, we girls clamored for our favorite weapon. Puta red lipstick, please!

Zeze took heed and offered her Maybelline's Color Sensational lipstick in Summer Sunset. I may be biased and all, but I think it looked pleasant on my badly sunburned skin!

See how Summer Sunset looked on Minnie's sunkissed-in-Boracay skin, Judith's pale-in-comparison-to-ours skin and my toasted-in-Camiguin skin

Seksi back!

P.S. Too bad I just saw a brilliant post like this, so please bear with me and my medium shots. Next time, I'll put more emphasis on the lipstick.

Lipstick of the Day: Revlon's Really Red

Our batch had long planned to visit an unexplored destination like Corregidor for some ghost-hunting madness but, fortunately for the panic-stricken killjoys like myself, we discovered about the adventure tour first before the overnight counterpart of the historical tour. How can you possibly say no? Admit it, there's something beyond heart-pumping about the reality show Amazing Race that, given the chance, you will jump at the opportunity to be in the show or anything close.

Although our day tour hardly deserved any sort of media coverage, I deem it necessary to equip myself with a long-staying red lippie like Revlon's Really Red. I'm sure somebody's watching!

Revlon's Really Red. Thanks, Google Images!

Ok, I'm such a bad liar. Scratch out the previous paragraph. Truth is, I've been using this lipstick DAILY since its purchase 21 days ago. Some girls have to be consistent, yes? Besides, I had to endure at least 6 hours of Rest Day Over Time (RDOT) before heading to the bay terminal to meet up with my batchmates. The least that I can do is to conceal my pallor and direct people's gaze to my mouth. Aye?

Meet Lora the Explorer!

Could somebody remind Lora to zip her backpack? Please?

Off to the battlefield!

Briefing

Aside from this fierce lipstick, I brought casual clothes to change into upon arrival in the island. However, everything happened so rapidly that I set aside such plans after our group stretching and briefing. Forgive me for being in a skirt all throughout.

And we're off to the first challenge!

Looking for clues!

And we found 'em!

Outside the [mental] hospital!

Mind games begin here!

Mind games dito, mind games doon!

Problem solved! Wee!

Duckwalk in the tunnel + ladder climb = one Superwoman in red lipstick!

Leaving the lighthouse!

I'd hate to break the ambiguity of the challenges in the succeeding photos and paragraphs. But this competitive fool needs to justify how our party of 10 lost our approximately 10-minute lead. The first ballgame required the participants to form a circle, throw the ball to the person across them one after another until the basketful of balls had gone around. Mind you, in such a windy day when typhoon Quiel decided to make a landfall!

My turn to catch the ball from Cayin, our leader. Next off is Carmela, the girl standing next to Cayin.

Ball game by the ruins!

The opposing team about to break our lead! Damn!

The second ballgame happened to be the last challenge. It reminded me of one of the games that we had during What is Your DNA? (Discover and Nurture your Abilities). Instead of PVC pipes and calamansi, we're supposed to make a plastic ball reach the basket a few feet away by making it roll through pieces of bamboo. We were THIS close to regain our lead but the ball fell down about thrice. We're left with no option but to swallow our frustration and go back to the starting line.

Almost there! Let's do this!

Aaaaand we did it!

Tell us, do we look like runners-up to you?

And we refuse to sulk! It's finally lunchtime!

Let's vault in, dirrrrty feet! Take us to the diner!

I forgot to mention that some of us missed to have proper breakfast and we found the junk food being sold in the ferry's snack bar far from satisfying. In my case, my last meal was around 12 midnight when one of our team leaders treated us poor saps to let's-pretend-we're-not-working-on-a-weekend dinner followed by hot taho in CCP at 6:30 am. Shortly after I made my second ascend to the ladder, I recognized how dizziness slowly crept in and I pushed myself to lean in a nearby branch. Millie realized it's not my usual way of hugging a tree and probed what's wrong. "Gutom na ako," I murmured and MJ rushed to offer the freebie granola bar. I imagine how pale I've become. In a few minutes, I felt better. Thank God!

By lunchtime, my lips remain really red. The countours, that is.

After lunch, we had an opportunity to linger in the coastal area to breathe in some fresh air and enjoy idle time. But, knowing us, we spent a large amount of that free time being in front of our digital cameras. Need evidence?

Change costume after the race? How unwitting!

Sino ang gumagawa ng music video?

***

Aside from the red lipstick and the battlefield clothes that I didn't get to wear during the actual amazing 2-hour race, I didn't really make any elaborate preparations for this challenge. That's when the instant confidence boost you get from red lipstick gets problematic. It's almost effortless to convince oneself that such time-pressured games do not really necessitate major workout sessions. Knee injury or knee injury, I'll survive it with a huge smile in my face. No anti-climactic finish in the hospital like this.

Always the last to arrive?

Guess who's lagging behind?

Yes, I was always the last to make it and it was my name that consistently went with "Double time!". When I finally do, somebody or the entire group's almost done sweeping the place for clues. I really felt like a dead weight.

There was this one moment when I'm panting away at the back of the race and started asking myself why did I even agree to join this adventure to begin with. We apparently underestimated the challenges! Then they laughingly boomeranged the questions: "Who tagged us on Facebook about this deal, huh?" and "Whose idea is this, anyway?".

Gosh, it was my idea! It's all my fault that we're crying happy tears under the interchanging heavy rains and bright sunshine. It was the exact motivation that I needed to hear and I felt my spirits lift up. It felt as if I can do million jump shots as if I never ever broke my kneecap or something. Let me leave you with the proofs.
